Crunk

You'll never met a sweeter dog!  He was my oldest son's dog and was a true treasure. Austin raised him from a pup and he thought he was a human thru and thru. He used to just plop down on the floor with a thud and then get so excited if one of us got up to do something.  He would "talk" all the time when Austin was gone and I'm sure he was saying so when's my boy getting home...so adorable.
He died suddenly last fall which left us all with a hole in our hearts.  So what better way to keep his memory alive than to paint him.  I used the hand painted paper collage style.  I'll be giving this to Austin and his family tonight when they come over for campfire and s'mores...YUM!

Orange Juice

Good ol'  OJ
A refreshing drink even for butterflies.
I have incorporated hand painted papers and fun type from a book

to create this fun and whimsical character.  My friend, Alesa, recently sent me a photo of this
guy from the butterfly exhibit at the Phoenix Botanical Gardens.

More fluttering friends to come!

Paradise

My first original paper painting!  I did do this during the Sedona weekend but it
wasn't instructor lead.  I have it framed in a simple black frame and it really pops.

Paper Painting Weekend

I had the fantastic fortune to attend a weekend workshop in Sedona about paper paintings.  It was taught by one of my favorite artists, Elizabeth St. Hilarie-Nelson.  This method is her specialty and was such a fun experience.  It took me full circle as collage was the medium that sparked in me 2 years ago when my art journey began.

We spent our first day hand painting founds papers.  Oh my what fun I had...it's so relaxing to me.  I got to play with color and patterns of all kinds not really worrying about the outcome because the next day we tore them all up.

We had a class of about 12 people from all over the country...even Canada.  We all had to do an apple.  Here is mine.  I've shown the under painting and then the finished collage painting.

Here is a picture of Elizabeth during our last day.  We lined up our apples and had a critique.  So fun to see with the same subject how different each painting was...not a bad seed in the bunch!

Expect to see more collage paintings from this girl as it really "spoke" to her creative self.
