New York Art Expo

I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to send 8 paintings to the New York Art Expo this past March via an art dealer from Chicago - Slaymaker Fine Art.  I sold 2 paintings and this is one of them...silly me forgot to take a photo of the other one before my art rep Elli Milan shipped them.  It's very exciting to be able to say I had some of my artwork there.  Hoping for more success next year.

While in Chicago celebrating a dear friend's birthday we played tourist.  We visited Slaymaker Fine Art.  It was amazing to see so much wonderful art in one space.

Adding some fun to my life.   I am surprising Mary Ellen at her 70th birthday celebration with a pair of gold shoes that we have passed back and forth since I was 16!  It's always a surprise to receive them...she let out the loudest " Oh MY GOD" and it's so much fun to think of how to give them....wonder where they will show up next?

Joyful Flight

Something NEW!
These were so fun to paint and of course I had Jimmy Buffett and other great music in my ears!  Just can't create fun paintings if I'm not being inspired by music.  I hope you like the new additions to my daisies.

Holy Cow receives an award!

Holy Cow received a "City Purchase Award" at the Annual Greeley Art Show.  She will grace the walls of a board room or lobby in a city building in Greeley, CO.  Can't wait to see where she will live.
What a fabulous welcome to COLORADO!

A Disney Life...

My buddy Ken and I are on the same path.  We are both moving to a new land....We have decided to move to the cool mountains of Colorado and Ken and Mark are moving to Orlando area to "Live a Disney Life".  Ken asked if I would do a commissioned piece with a Disney theme and of course I say YES but let's trade a piece of art.  So that's what we did!  What a fun way to remember a friend and have something new for our new homes.  Ken you're a genius....so here are the pics.  We meet to exchange and had a great time catching up and comparing our new journeys.  We planned to move in June and they in Oct of this year.

Art buddies Ken and Sandy.  We also share a morbid fascination with celebrity deaths and believe they happen in 3's.   When we worked together every Monday morning was spent in jabber about the weekend and what was happening for the week.  Miss those mornings but excited to someday visit you in the Magic Kingdom in Florida!

Ken normally works in pen and ink...I asked for some color just no pink.  This picture doesn't do Mickey justice.  This is a 3D piece with Mickey's face in 3 layers.  His style is pointillism.....I think I got that right.  Love it!

Fused Glass Class

One thing I love to do and am going to do more is take fun art classes that are not painting related.  My friend Gail from Flagstaff and I ventured over to Circle 6 Studios in Phx.  http://www.circle6studios.com for an afternoon of creativity.  I didn't take but one picture...lame.  But she is also an artist and we had a great time stepping out of our normal medium to learn from another artist.  While this was a simple class it makes you think differently and sometimes the unknown will get those juices flowing that will later appear in your artwork.  This was my attempt at a daisy inside another daisy....my kids told me it looks like a bunch of eggs around a flower.   So there you go art speaks to everyone differently.

Let's catch up!

I took a break from blogging so I could focus of just painting for fun and experimenting with some new tricks I've discovered.  It's time to get back in the action so here goes....this is what you missed.

In Dec 2012 Milan Fine Art and Gallery 220 were invited to participate in the World of Art Showcase at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas!!  What a great opportunity for the budding artists of Gallery 220.  Gallery 220 is a collection of artists who are mentored by John and Elli Milan.   check out the website www.gallery-220.com
This pic shows the set up....

Here I am with fellow artists Barb Gomez and John and Elli Milan.  I of course painted the sunflowers and Barb painted the beautiful women.  It was a great weekend that included some sight seeing with Kirk and Kate.  Below is a quick pic of us enjoying the festive atrium at the Bellagio.

It's always fun to see a finished piece in a collector's home.  This was a Christmas gift.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder right?  Well this was a "dud" that I put away for about 9 months then one day I resurrected it and added more fun elements and "magic" a colorful painting emerged.  This was purchased by a good friend, Bev, in Queen Creek, AZ.
